Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 18, 2026
Unmangle is designed to respect your privacy. It processes your crash files entirely on your device and does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. This policy explains what that means in practice.
Data we collect
None. Unmangle does not collect analytics, usage statistics, telemetry, crash reports, or any personally identifiable information. We do not use tracking technologies, advertising SDKs, or third-party analytics services.
How your files are handled
Crash files, symbol files (dSYMs), and any other content you open are processed locally on your Mac. This data:
- Never leaves your device.
- Is not uploaded to any server, including ours.
- Is not stored, cached, or transmitted by us in any form.
Unmangle runs in the macOS App Sandbox and only accesses the files you explicitly open or grant permission to.
The one exception is the optional App Store lookup described under Network access, which sends only the crashed app’s bundle identifier, never the files themselves, to Apple.
Network access
Symbolication itself runs entirely on your device and never requires an internet connection.
Unmangle has one optional feature that uses the network: App Store lookup. When it is enabled (you can turn it off at any time in Settings), Unmangle sends only the crashed app’s bundle identifier (for example, com.example.app) to Apple’s public iTunes Lookup API to retrieve that app’s public App Store name and icon, which makes reports easier to identify. This request:
- Contains only the bundle identifier. It never includes your crash contents, symbol files, or any personal data.
- Goes directly to Apple and is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Can be disabled, after which Unmangle makes no network requests for your reports.
Your crash files and symbol data are never transmitted over the network.
Third-party services
Unmangle does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection services. If you obtained the app through the Mac App Store, Apple may collect certain information (such as aggregate download and purchase data) in accordance with Apple’s Privacy Policy. That data is handled by Apple, not by us.
Children’s privacy
Unmangle is a developer tool and is not directed at children. Because we do not collect any personal data, we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
